Sprayed Polyurethane Foam (SPF) Insulation – A little known alternative with Big Benefits

SPF meets the insulation requirements for both new construction and improvements to existing structures and it increase the structural integrity of the building.

All
insulations of equal R-value do not perform equally. SPF is sprayed on the wall and ceiling as a liquid and it expands in seconds to form a seamless, monolithic barrier that prevents air and water filtration and prevents drafts. SPF helps maintain constant temperature throughout the building this helps with air quality and reduces the infiltration of outside air pollutants with in the building.

Conventional insulations (fiberglass, cellulose, rockwall) leave gaps and seams around window and door framing, air can escape on enter. When air transfers happen – warm outside air meets cool air conditioned inside air or cold outside air meets warm heated inside air condensation can occur over time, this moisture can cause conventional insulations to mold and mildew. These air transfers do not occur when using SPF insulation which causes the building to be safe from outdoor pollutants and to be more energy efficient. When SPF is sprayed in the walls it fills every crevice and crack, it does not shrink or settle of turn to dust over time.

R-value is not the only thing to consider when insulating, it is more important to eliminate air leakage through out the building which SPF does. Putting the right insulation in your building can be an investment that will pay for itself in reduced energy consumption which in turn pays your back n fuel and electrical cost and with the high cost of both these days it just makes sense to put SPF in your walls and ceilings.

Many take insulation for granted but it is very important because it is something that can not be changed after the building is completed. Keep in mind that conventional insulations do not stop air leakage so it can not save in energy consumption like SPF. Insulating with Spray Polyurethane Foam can provide a safer, healthier, quieter, more efficient place to work or live.
